Darth Vader Mythos Exclusive Polystone Statue by Sideshow Collectibles
The Darth Vader Mythos Dark Contemplations Exclusive Polystone Statue by Sideshow Collectibles is an impressive addition to any collection. This piece is available from Sideshow Collectibles at $350 plus shipping and is well worth the price. Although Sideshow made a generous 5000 pieces of this limited edition statue I would suggest grabbing one while they’re still in stock, ours was numbered in the 4000’s so this one should be out of stock soon!
This statue can be displayed in several poses thanks to the multiple arms and heads that can be easily changed out and are held in place by magnets. This is a great addition to the piece and makes it truly unique.
You can choose to display Darth Vader in his classic helmet or with one of two different exposed and battle damaged heads modeled after Sebastian Shaw from Return of the Jedi and Hayden Christensen from Revenge of the Sith, although except for the shape of the nose on these two heads, I saw virtually no difference between them. His interchangeable right arms can depict the figure with a closed fist, holding his signature red light saber or holding his helmet. He has so many great display options, half the fun is changing his pose.
The packaging of this statue was truly impressive. There are several loose pieces and each one was carefully protected during shipping. The box itself is beautiful, showing depictions of the statue from various angles and the number of the piece on the bottom. It’s then shipped in a plain cardboard box to protect the statue and the glossy collector box from damage. This piece also included a certificate of authenticity inside a rigid envelope.
Darth Vader is wonderfully detailed in this piece. His one of a kind costume is severely battle damaged, showing various rips and holes. Each of these is intricately detailed, the rips are expertly painted to appear real and the holes in his cape are actual holes in the statue, not just painted to resemble holes. From his scrapped and burnt boots to the tip of his red light saber, this statue is expertly detailed. The lava on the base is well sculpted and painted, creating the illusion that the lava could be flowing. The entire statue is bathed in the orange glow from the lava pool, giving this piece a life of its own. The orange shading is well utilized, although a little over done on the hand held helmet. To add even more detail he also comes with an additional light saber handle that can hang from his belt when displaying him without his light saber in hand.
This statue is an impressive 21” from the bottom of the base to the top of the helmet and if displayed with the light saber it stands at about 2’ tall. Assembly isn’t an issue, simply place the body on the base then add the head and arm that you want. Once you’ve attached the head and arm it look like one solid piece, no one would know that they can be removed unless you show them.
This statue looks incredible when displayed in a nicely lit case, just be sure to account for the size when deciding where to place it. Any Star Wars fan would be lucky to have this beautiful statue in their collection.
